Welcome to my corner of the internet! I’m Priscilla Bacalhau, Ph.D., an economist with a passion for international development, impact evaluation, and policy analysis.
With a doctorate and master’s degree in Economics from the São Paulo School of Economics at Fundação Getúlio Vargas, my academic journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to leveraging research for social change. Throughout my career spanning over a decade, I’ve been driven by the belief that rigorous social research can empower policymakers and transform communities’ lives for the better.

My professional trajectory has seen me wear many hats – from conducting impact evaluations of public policies and social projects to providing technical assistance to governments and organizations in the education sector. I’ve honed my skills in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, from study design and instrument development to data analysis and systematization.
As a consultant for esteemed institutions like World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP, Fundação Lemann, and Itaú Social, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with diverse stakeholders to address complex social challenges. My time as a visiting student researcher at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education further broadened my perspectives and deepened my commitment to advancing equitable education systems.
I’m excited to continue my journey of making a positive impact, armed with a blend of academic rigor, practical experience, and a relentless drive to create change. Join me as we embark on a journey to harness the power of research to build a more equitable and prosperous world for all.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to connecting with fellow professionals and changemakers alike!
